Anselmo-Merna Football Coaching Announcement
Anselmo-Merna Public School is excited to share that, pending board approval, two familiar faces will be returning to the sidelines for the 2026–2027 football season.
Coach Matt McGinn, a longtime member of the A-M football program, brings over 15 years of coaching experience back to the Coyotes. During his tenure, he helped lead one of the most successful seasons in school history, culminating in a state runner-up finish in 2014. Notably, current Head Coach Troy Gilligan was a member of that team.
Joining him is Coach Jason Reed, who also brings valuable football coaching experience and a strong connection to the A-M football program, having spent multiple years coaching on the Coyotes’ sidelines.
Coach Reed and Coach McGinn will join Head Coach Troy Gilligan and Assistant Coach Butch Faulkenberry as they continue to build on the proud tradition of Anselmo-Merna football.
Please help us welcome Coach McGinn and Coach Reed back to the Coyote sideline!

Coyotes! We are excited to share that Callie Zutavern will be stepping into the role of P–12 Assistant Principal for the 2026–2027 school year at Anselmo-Merna Public School - pending board approval. In this role, Callie will primarily support students and staff in grades 7–12, while also working across our system to strengthen consistency, communication, and support for all learners from preschool through graduation. Callie brings a strong background in instructional leadership and has played an important role in our school’s continuous improvement efforts. She is deeply committed to student success and a natural fit for this important role. Her ability to build meaningful relationships with students, staff, and families continues to positively impact our school community. When asked about this opportunity, Callie shared: “I’m so excited to take this next step in my career as Assistant Principal at Anselmo-Merna. I am very passionate about student success, supporting teachers, and fostering a positive school culture. It is truly an honor to serve this school community and continue building strong relationships with students, staff, and families.” Please join us in congratulating Callie on this well-deserved opportunity. This morning at 10:00 AM, the State of Nebraska conducted a statewide tornado drill as part of Nebraska Severe Weather Awareness Week.
Our students and staff participated in this important safety drill, practicing the procedures we would follow in the event of a tornado warning. This included reviewing where to go and how to respond quickly and safely during severe weather.
Practicing these routines helps ensure that everyone is prepared and can respond calmly and effectively in a real emergency. Thank you for your continued support in helping us keep our school community safe.
Trevor Duryea broke the school record in triple jump yesterday with a jump of 45'6. The school record was previously set by Trevor last year with a jump of 44'6 1/4.
