Andrew Hultquist
7-12 Math

I am coming to Anselmo-Merna after taking graduate statistics classes and teaching an undergraduate statistics course at the University of Nebraska Lincoln. My favorite part of math is that it can be seen in many aspects of everyday life. Math is  in the agricultural industry, personal finance, conducting research, in nature like the Fibonacci sequence, industrial arts, and even in cooking. Many people will not go on to take advanced math classes, but everyone will have to use math in some aspect of their life.

I grew up on my family’s farm by Minden, Nebraska. We raise row crops like corn and soybeans. During the summers, I worked on the farm cultivating, hilling, spraying weeds, rouging, irrigating, and mowing. I have a respect for what hard work can be. I also helped my family with many hobbies like raising chickens for farm fresh eggs, Italian honey bees for local honey, and a giant vegetable garden. In my free time, I enjoy fishing and frisbee golf. I also like visiting state and national parks and taking in the scenery. Football and basketball are some of my favorite sports to watch, especially the Huskers.

I graduated from Chadron State College in Chadron, Nebraska with a Bachelor of Science in Math and Business. During my time at Chadron, I was involved in extracurricular activities like chess club, pep band, and jazz band. I worked as a math peer tutor in the learning center and  for the Institutional Research Department at Chadron State College by creating fact books to provide data to assist the administration in planning and decision making.

I am excited to meet the community and share my love of math!
