Opportunity for Coyote Nation to Support Children's Hospital
Hello Anselmo-Merna Community,
This is Cameron Downey. I am a recent graduate of Anselmo-Merna Public Schools. I am currently serving on the executive team this year for a nonprofit organization called Dance Marathon through the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Dance Marathon’s purpose is to raise funds and increase awareness for Children’s Hospital & Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska by uniting Husker Nation to ensure every child has the ability to receive the highest quality care. Dance Marathon gets its name from our 13.1-hour event we put on called HuskerThon in February. During this event, we dance for the kids who can’t and invite children and their families who have been treated at Children’s to participate and just be kids again. Each year, over 1,000 UNL students participate and help fundraise for the kids.
In the past 6 years, we have raised over 1.1 million dollars for the hospital and have funded over 27 specialty patient rooms including emergency trauma rooms, radiology and ultrasound rooms, and Children’s Ambulatory Recovery and Express Service rooms. This year we have a huge goal of raising $252,000 to fund a full operating room for more complex cases that will be built in the Hubbard Expansion. We want to ensure every child has the opportunity to become a Husker and we can’t do that without your help.
This cause hits very close to home as well. When I was a senior I had the pleasure to be the mentor of Ayden Duryea who just had a heart transplant surgery at the Children’s Hospital in Omaha. Lilly Schmitz was also treated at Children’s for Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. If it wasn’t for the people at Children’s our community and both Ayden and Lilly’s families wouldn’t be blessed to still have their happy and genuine souls in our school and community. Children’s has impacted our community far more than most people will ever realize.
There will be a split the pot raffle at the final regular season football game this Friday. Half will be going as a donation for the hospital. I have also attached a link to my donor drive to this email where you can donate if you won’t be at the game and want to make a donation or if you are interested in helping me reach my personal goal and impact communities across Nebraska just like ours by supporting the Children’s Hospital. If you or the business you work at is interested in making a corporate donation please contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org or call me at (308)643-9303.
I feel as though this is something our community can fully support with the impact it has made on members of the community. Thanks for your consideration in helping to support a cause that is important to me and the patients and families who will benefit from your generosity.
