Anselmo-Merna Students Support Deployed Soldiers
Mrs. Thornton's First Grade Class
Ms. Marshall's Third Grade Class
Mrs. McGinn's Second Grade Class
Students in first, second, and third grade at Anselmo-Merna Elementary School came together to support our soldiers deployed overseas for the Christmas season. With the help of their teachers (Mrs. Thornton, Mrs. McGinn, and Ms. Marshall), students created care packages for soldiers. Students donated the necessities (clothing, bedding), but also included goodies from the great state of Nebraska (footballs, Husker items, Coyote gear). The project began the week before Thanksgiving, and packages were sent just in time for soldiers to receive them in time for Christmas. All care packages were sent to Jordan, where some A-M family members are currently serving. Students sent a total of 21 care packages. The Anselmo-Merna FFA contributed to this project by covering the total cost of shipping. Students and teachers were excited to see their efforts go to benefit those who give so much to our country.
