Speech/Language

I have been a Speech Language Pathologist for the past 15 years for the Sandhills Educational Coop serving Anselmo-Merna and Sandhills Schools.  After earning my bachelors’ degree, I earned a master’s in Science Education, Speech Language Pathology at the University of NE of Kearney.  SLPs work with children who have a variety of disabilities.  Such as Language, Voice, Fluency Articulation and Swallowing.

Language Disabilities Include:

  • Slow development of vocabulary, concepts or grammar
  • Inability to use different communication styles for different situations 
  • Poor building blocks of understanding/expressing ideas, social development, learning, reading, and writing.

Fluency or Stuttering Problems

  • Interruptions in flow or rhythm
  • Can include hesitations, repetitions, or prolongations
  • Can affect sounds, syllables, words, or phrases

Articulation Disorders

  • Saying one sound for another (wabbit for rabbit)
  • Omitting a sound in a word (i-cream for ice cream)
  • Distorting a sound (thee for see)

I live on a ranch near Dunning, NE where we have a cow/calf operation.  In my spare time I enjoying my family (grandsons), riding horses, and reading.
